Great Train Ride

“I’ve lived in this beautiful state for over 40 years. I love old Nevada, historical Nevada, small town Nevada, big city thrills and everything in between. This train ride has been on my bucket list for a long time. My friend and I decided we were going to do it. And we are so glad that we did. It was an unusual weekend in Virginia City-Outhouse races. I love that Nevada has such corny things going-makes me laugh. The train was comfortable, clean, enlightening about local history, and it was steam. We saw deer and wild horses and plenty of mining activity. That’s what I love about my state. The Outhouse races were a bonus.”

Great Day Out on the Train
“We rode on the train while on vacation in South Lake Tahoe. It was an easy 50 minute drive to the station. We bought our tickets well in advance because it’s only 2 cars so seating is limited. It was a warm day and the train can get toasty. We saw many old mines and wild horses on our journey. Virginia City was great and a nice representation of the old boomtown mining town. Lots of lunch options in town. There’s no beverages on board but they do sell bottled water for $1. Nice narrative both ways and we learned quite a bit about the history of the area. The walk to town from the station is uphill but there’s a trolley to help if you are mobility impaired. A great day and a reasonable price when you consider that it’s a full day of entertainment. I live with train buffs who love all things train but even if you’re not this is a great day out.”

Excellent Bit of History and Relaxation
“Great trip back in time on a hosted ride through a historic area. Guides provide descriptions of the history and folklore as you take it all in on your way to Virginia City and the surrounding mines. Well work the time and cost. Good value for money, great family or single activity. Lots of photo ops.”
