Getting Here

There are two departure points depending on which excursion you’ve booked. Every ride besides the Virginia City to Gold Hill one will depart from Carson City. Make sure to double-check your ticket before you head out.

  • Eastgate Depot in Carson City: 4650 Eastgate Siding Road, Carson City, NV 89701
  • Virginia City Depot: 166 F Street, Virginia City, NV 89440
    • Note: This is only for the Virginia Truckee Railroad Co. excursion, Virginia City to Gold Hill. 
    • Directions: From C St./Hwy. 34 go east on Taylor, right on F St. to the Depot Car at F St. & Washington.

Tickets

It’s not a train ride without a ticket! We want you to feel truly immersed in the experience, so all passengers must have a physical ticket. Check in at the depot to grab yours for the conductor to punch once on board. 

If you lose your ticket, check in with our staff at the depot when you arrive.

Please note: Digital confirmations are not accepted as a substitute for a physical ticket.

When to Arrive

Arrive at least 30 minutes early. Our trains depart right on time, so we recommend showing up ahead of your scheduled ride to check in, explore the depot, and find your seat.

What to Bring

We recommend packing light and only bringing these essentials:

  • A jacket, as temperatures can change quickly
  • A camera or phone to snap some photos
  • Sun protection like hats and sunscreen

 Food & Drink Information

Snacks and water are available for purchase at the depots, but we ask that you help us preserve our beautifully restored Pullman passenger cars by not eating on the train during the trip. 

You may pack a picnic to enjoy once we reach Virginia City. There are also plenty of restaurants to dine at!

Family-Friendly Amenities

Here are just a few of the ways we make it easy to ride with kids:

  • Restrooms are available on board the trains and at both depots.
  • Changing stations are located in depot restrooms.
  • If you’re planning to use a booster seat, you will have to purchase a ticket for your child. However, if you hold a child 24 months or younger in your lap, they ride free.
  • Strollers can be stored during your train ride. Our staff is happy to help, so just ask!

Accessibility

Everyone is welcome to experience the magic of the V&T Railway! Our trains are wheelchair accessible, and ramps are available at both depots. Service animals are allowed. For sensory-friendly accommodations or questions, please reach out ahead of time, so we can do our best to make you comfortable.

Do you allow alcohol, smoking, or vaping on excursion train rides?

No. For the safety and comfort of all guests, alcohol, smoking, vaping, and controlled substances are not permitted on any of our excursion or trains. Guests who do not follow this policy may be asked to leave without a refund.

If you need any assistance on the day of your visit, don’t hesitate to ask one of our staff members! Look for staff in uniform or visit the ticket desk for help with anything, from directions to lost items.
