V&T Railway’s Toast of the Canyon invites you to slow down aboard a historic steam train. This 45-minute round-trip ride pairs local flavors with wide-open views — great for a relaxed afternoon with friends or a well-earned date day.

Before Your Ride

Ease into the day’s adventure with a stop at one of Carson City’s many restaurants, such as: 

• Eve’s Eatery
• The Fox Restaurant & Brewery
• L.A. Bakery
• Piazza
• The Basil

Then set out for a short drive to Eastgate Depot. We recommend you get there 30 minutes before your train’s departure.

While on the Train

Once you’re on board the steam train, the outside world fades into the background. Sip on two glasses of wine and nibble on small bites as the train follows the same route carved through canyon walls and river bends more than a century ago.

After the Ride

If you're not quite ready to call it a day, Carson City’s got you covered. From exploring the arts and culture scene to shopping downtown, you’ll find a wide range of activities to fill your afternoon.
